Dow Corning's Breast Implants

A 5 page report on the debate surrounding the use of silicone gel breast implants. Ralph Nader involved himself in the controversy in 1988. Since then, various groups have come forward with comments: consumer groups in favor of the implants, consumer groups in opposition to the implants, attorneys, insurance companies, plastic surgeons, and even Congress. That there have been problems with the implants is a point that no one contests. The issue at the core of the debate is whether silicone migrating to other areas of the body truly is, as was originally thought, biologically inert, or whether it contributes to some hidden reaction.
