Acuna focuses on the role of Mexican immigrant labor to the success of agricultural endeavors in the US Southwest and how this contributed significantly to American prosperity. Galarza's book, as an autobiography, is a more personal account that reveals the route that naturalized Mexican-Americans have been compelled to follow in order to achieve success in the US.
